Advanced Placement English students are required to read ALL of the selections listed below. As a method of assessment, students will be required to complete the following: Maintain a reading log in which you record your interpretation and analysis of each work. Complete 10 reading log entries on each literary work. Each entry should be an analysis, not a summary, of the literature. The entries should address such points as plot, characters, setting, organization of work, tone, thematic development, and literary devices. At least five of the entries for each literary work should be based on excerpts from the text. Record the excerpt in quotations and indicate the appropriate page number prior to your comments. There will be various assessments on the summer reading selections in September such as the reading log entries, class discussions, activities, essays, and an objective test. Since these works and their respective themes will continue to be addressed throughout the school year, it is important that you read each text closely. Required Reading:
