    M. SCOTT CARPENTER SCHOOL SUPPLIES

    The PTA has purchased back to school gifts for the students.  The following are the items each student will receive in September:

    Kindergarten through 2nd Grade:  1 folder 

    3rd through 5th Grade: 1 Student Planner/Assignment Pad

    Suggested Supplies to Keep For Home Use

    In just a few weeks the stores will be stocking their shelves with “Back-to-School” specials.  You may want to keep at home some of the following: pencils, scissors, markers, crayons, glue, rulers, calculators, erasers, etc., for your child to use when completing homework.

     

    But what does your child really need?

    Below is a list to help you as you purchase your child’s needed back-to-school supplies. Our teachers recommend the following supplies for their students.

     

    KINDERGARTEN

    1. Markers
    2. Crayons
    3. Colored Pencils
    4. Glue Sticks
    5. 2 folders 
    6. 1 marble notebook
    7. Dry erase markers
    8. 1 pencil pouch – fabric
    9. Wet One Wipes/Baby Wipes (for hand cleaning)
    10. box of tissues
    11. School supplies to keep at home: scissors, crayons, glue, pencils

     

    FIRST GRADE

    1. 3 folders (one yellow, one blue, one red)
    2. 3 marble composition notebooks (There is a Mead notebook that is called a primary composition notebook for grades K-2. The lines are easier for the children to use if you are able to find it. If not, a regular composition notebook is fine.)
    3. A HARD pencil box to keep all writing and art supplies in
    4. 3 Dry Erase markers
    5. 2 boxes of crayons  (24 pack)
    6. 5 glue sticks
    7. 1 box colored pencils
    8. erasers
    9. 12 pencils
    10. box of tissues
    11. *Items unused at the beginning of the year will be stored with your child's name on it. 

      

    SECOND GRADE

    1. 3 folders with HORIZONTAL pockets 
    2. 2 hard cover marble composition notebooks
    3. 1 large, soft pencil case (NO BOXES) to keep crayons, pencils, and glue sticks in
    4. headphones
    5. pencils
    6. crayons (16 pack only)
    7. glue sticks
    8. box of tissues

     

    THIRD GRADE

    1. 1 marble notebook
    2. 1 one-subject notebook (8.5 x 11 inch)
    3. 3 folders (including 1 each: red, blue, purple)
    4. 1 jumbo book cover
    5. thin Expo Markers
    6. glue sticks
    7. headphones
    8. soft, flat pencil case (No Boxes)
    9. box of tissues

     

    FOURTH GRADE

    1. 2 hard covered marble notebooks
    2. 2 three-subject notebooks
    3. 6 folders
    4. 3 marking pens (NO RED)
    5. 2 boxes of crayons
    6. 2 boxes of colored pencils
    7. 4 glue sticks
    8. 2 boxes of tissues

     

     

    FIFTH GRADE

    1. 1 one-subject notebook (Social Studies)
    2. 1 two-subject notebook (Science & Health)
    3. 1 three-subject notebook (ELA: Reading, Spelling, and Grammar)
    4. 1 two-subject notebook (Math: notes & work, vocabulary)
    5. 1 marble notebook (hardcover)
    6. 7- folders with pockets **suggest that folder colors match notebook per subject**
    7. 1 highlighter
    8. 1 soft pencil case
    9. Pencils
    10. Colored marking pen
    11. 2 Expo Markers
    12. 4 JUMBO book covers (recommended)
    13. 1 box of crayons
    14. 1 glue stick
    15. 1 box of tissues
    16. **Label all materials with name and subject.

    *No binders are permitted in the fifth grade*

    ***Two sets of Ear Buds or Headphones with Microphones - Labeled with child’s name. 

    1 set for the classroom & one set for the Computer Lab

    ***Available in most dollar stores.***
