Jonas Salk Animal Club Donates $500 to Old Bridge Animal Shelter

  • The students of the Jonas Salk Animal Club helped to celebrate Thanksgiving by donating $500 to the Old Bridge Animal Shelter.  The director of the shelter, Karen Chen, stopped by to meet the students and tell them about the animals that they were helping with their donation.

Chen told the students the money would be used to help with the medical care of one dog and a cat.

"It's been wonderful seeing the students live out the character education pillars of citizenship and caring,” said club adviser Daniel Sullivan. “They've taken the lessons they've learned in school and applied them to the community.  I'm very proud of them."

The students are currently working with the Junior National Honor Society on the second annual "Holidays at the Shelter" initiative.

They are accepting new and gently used items as well as food and supplies to be donated to the Old Bridge Animal Shelter.  Donation bins are located in the front vestibule of Jonas Salk Middle School, located at 155 West Greystone Road.
