Hello all!! I am thrilled that your child will be in my class this school year. Let me start by having you learn about me. My name is Jennifer Mariconda. I am a graduate of St John's University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Psychology. I also have a Masters Degree in Reading. I started teaching in New York from 1997-2004. In 2004, I came to Southwood and taught 3rd grade until 2006. I was a stay-at-home mother from 2006-2015. During this time, I have tutored elementary age students in reading and math as well as taught reading skills for SAT and TACHS exams to upper grade students. In 2015-2106, I was a 4th grade long term substitute teacher here in Southwood. From 2016 to the present, I have been teaching 3rd grade.
I am looking forward to learning and growing with your child. Part of my job, as an educator, is also to help your children develop the core character values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. In the classroom, students and teacher alike give recognition for displays of core character values. Please help us at home by recognizing and fostering good character.
