Character Club News!

  • The Southwood School Character Club is comprised of Fifth Grade students who show exemplary character and serve as role models in our school. In the Fall, interested students complete applications, including statements about how they exemplify exceptional character at school, at home, and in the community.

The main goal of the Character Club is to initiate, publicize, and maintain Service Learning projects on behalf of our school. This year, our Character Club will assist in the collection of gently used Halloween Costumes for the "Halloween Swap and Shop" in cooperation with Madison Park School. The Character Club also facilitates our ongoing Service Learning initiatives, including  our "Sustainable Southwood Community Garden" and the "Crayon Initiative" which includes collecting used crayons to be donated and recycled into crayons for children who are hospitalized.  We meet on a monthly basis to discuss ways that we can help our school community as well as our local community.

If a Fifth Grade student would like to join the Character Club, new members are always welcome! Please ask any interested student to see our school counselor.
