In the fourth level of a language, the students make daily use of the four skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They spend a great deal more time on reading and writing. The student is expected to read some literary works and/or the history of target cultures and countries and be cognizant of them in both written and spoken form. Students will participate in various activities, such as skits, news broadcasts, improvised dialogues, and situational dialogues. A student can expect to prepare individual projects or papers in this course. All the points of grammar learned in the first three levels are brought together and reviewed at this level. Much of the instruction at this level is in the target language.
