    “Character Through Athletics”

At Old Bridge High School, we believe that participation in interscholastic athletics is a vital part of the overall educational process. We recognize the positive influence of athletics, as it has been proven to increase grade point averages, lead to fewer disciplinary issues, decrease the use of drugs, and increase the opportunities of going to college and having a promising career. Our programs strive to be successful, but strictly require that this be achieved through fairness, positive interaction and relationships, and sportsmanship.

Our programs understand that participating in athletics does not create character, but rather it exposes it. Old Bridge High School, a National School of Character, supports the fact that learning is a lifelong process. The school community must prepare students to function successfully in society and all students should be treated with respect, tolerance, and fairness.

Our athletic programs correlate with the school’s beliefs by:

    • Making the playing field an extension of the classroom

    • Strengthening our community through building relationships on and off the field

    • Creating an atmosphere that allows all student-athletes to achieve their potential

    • Teaching our student-athletes how to effectively handle adversity

    • Teaching accountability, responsibility, and discipline

    • Training our athletes to be active leaders within the community

Our athletes grow, learn and enjoy themselves while developing interpersonal skills. Through commitment and dedication to their teams, our athletes will become valuable stakeholders within the community.
