Congratulations to Spanish language students for their continued success and participation in Spanish Honor Society sponsored contests!
Students from Ms. Ligia Morales’ Spanish class recently participated in the AATSP National contest. Despite the challenges of Remote Learning platforms, Sara Wu’s 2020 hand-drawn poster contest entry won 2nd place for the state of NJ. She joins a distinguished list of other Old Bridge High School participants and winners. You can view her artwork along with that of other previous Old Bridge students. http://www.njaatsp.org/poster-contest.html
In addition, Old Bridge students achieved national recognition for excellent performance on the 2020 National Spanish Examinations. “Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examination is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because these exams are the largest of their kind in the United States.”
Students from Old Bridge High School have a long history of achievement on these exams and are a product of the combined efforts and passion of all our teachers of Spanish at Old Bridge High School.
The 2020 National Spanish Exam award recipients were:
Gold medal: Samica Goel
Silver medal: Jailyn Caba, Karen Pedri
Bronze medal: Isabel Rubin, Dalilah Figueroa (OBHS 2020)
Honor medal: Neha Asif, Iman Azeem, Ashley Grant, Sahil Khattar, Krisha Shah
We commend our Spanish teachers and our students for rising above the challenges we are facing today, and continuing to prove success and make a global impact. Felicidades!
