GOAL! OB Students score big in German Soccer Contest

Students in Frau Schmitz's German III and AP German classes have participated in the Goethe Institute's 'Step into German: Soccer Contest' for the past four years. The contest offers students a fun and engaging way to learn about German sports and soccer terminology, while competing against other schools from all over the US. Last year, Old Bridge German III students finished in 2nd place, a noteworthy accomplishment! This year proved to be an even more competitive season as the AP German class of 2020 made their way to an almost 1st place tie, only to finish in a close second place to Belleville HS in NJ!

The Goethe Institute awards first place winners a free round trip ticket to Germany along with admission to a Major League Soccer game. Although, due to the Covid19 pandemic, there are no scheduled trips this year, Old Bridge German students decided to participate in the competition with the hopes of continuing to challenge themselves while building friendships across the globe. Keep working hard, students of German class! You may be next in line for a free trip one day in the near future! We thank Frau Schmitz and the teachers of the German department - Frau Cotis, Frau Costa, Frau Brauer - for the opportunities they continue to provide for all students. Danke!
