The M. Scott Carpenter Elementary School is one of eleven elementary schools located in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. The school is located at One Par Avenue, directly off of Cindy Street, in the Sayrewoods South housing development. Carpenter School was built and opened in 1965.

Our school is named after Commander M. Scott Carpenter, one of the original members of “Project Mercury” selected in 1958.   “Project Mercury” was a United States effort to put a man into orbit around the Earth. Carpenter’s mission was named “Mercury Atlas 7.” In May of 1962, Carpenter circled the Earth as the world watched. In May of 1997, he visited our school as the entire Carpenter community watched. We remain honored to be associated with Commander M. Scott Carpenter.

The M. Scott Carpenter Elementary School presently houses 250 plus students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade classes. I am very proud of each and every one of our wonderful, hard-working, and dedicated students. The children are truly the bright part of each day here at Carpenter School.

I am also very proud of my staff. The staff is a great blend of veteran experience and youth. The staff recognizes the importance of making each child feel special every day.

Questions, comments, and suggestions from our community are always welcome and we look forward to both meeting and working with you to foster a climate of cooperation between the community and the school. I can be reached at (732) 360-4452, or emailed at christopher.mccue@obps.org.
