• Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I am so excited to work with you all this year. We will be exploring the Spanish language as well as the unique Spanish and Latin American cultures.

The goal of this class is communication. Students will learn through communicative activities and assessed on how well they can communicate with a variety of audiences and situations. As recommended by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), 90% of classroom time will be in Spanish. The class is based on ACTFL's World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages. Communication is learned, practiced and assessed through the three modes: interpersonal, interpretive and presentational. Cultural understanding is encouraged and developed and is the lense through which everything is learned. Students will make connections & comparisons with global themes. Learners will see the value in and potential application of Spanish throughout the community- their local, school, and global community.

This is just the beginning of your journey in Spanish! Students start at the Novice-Low level and the goal is Novice-Mid. See descriptors below.
