Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Ellie Yong Yow
I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! We are going to have a great year, with lots of learning and fun activities. I want to tell you a little bit about myself so you can get to know me as a person, and not just your child's teacher. I currently live in Old Bridge with my husband and two children, who attend Carpenter Elementary School. My older daughter, Maya, is in 5th grade, and my younger daughter, Sierra, is in 2nd grade. This is my third year here at Southwood School. Prior to teaching at Southwood, I taught in private schools at the elementary level for about 14 years. I am originally from New York, where I grew up and attended school. I went to Pace University, where I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. For my undergraduate studies, I attended Ithaca College, and received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
My goal for this year is to provide a positive, nurturing learning environment, where your child feels safe and knows that I will take the time help them grow. I want to get to know your child, what motivates them, and how they learn best, so I can help them do well in my class. I cannot do this without your help and support. Communication between a child's teacher and a child's parents is extremely important in order for the child to reach his or her potential. I want to be a team and work together so your child can have a successful year in third grade. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you may have. You can always message me on Class Dojo or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to a great year!
