  • Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child's 6th grade counselor. My name is Kathleen Corsentino and I joined the Old Bridge School District in January 2013. I am so happy to be here and part of such a wonderful school and community!
As our first step in building a relationship, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from Ramapo College of New Jersey. I then went on to complete a Master's Degree in Education in School Counseling from Monmouth University. While in graduate school I was afforded the opportunity to have firsthand experience as a school counselor here in Old Bridge at Jonas Salk Middle School and knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of this community. I began my career as a counselor at Old Bridge High School's main campus working with upper classmen. I later moved to the Grade Nine Center to work with incoming freshman. Finally, I settled here at Sandburg and consider myself very fortunate to be part of the CSMS family.
As a school counselor, my primary focus is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and success. I may work towards that goal by meeting with students individually or in small groups, meeting with parents, collaborating with teachers and other staff members, and consulting with community organizations to meet the needs of all Sandburg students and families. I fully support Old Bridge's focus on character education and will do my best to exemplify that through my role as a school counselor.
In addition to my position as a school counselor at Sandburg, I am the head coach for Old Bridge High School gymnastics as well as cheerleading coach at Sandburg. Please see related information under "My Calendar" and "My Resources" if you are interested in trying out for either team. I also co-facilitate the yoga club here at Sandburg. Students are able to join us for a short yoga session during their lunch period or sign up for the after school club.
I look forward to working with you and your children in the 2017-18 school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns or to set up an appointment to meet with me; I am here to assist should you need me. I can be reached at 732-360-4420 or by email at Please know I will make every effort to see that your child receives as much personal assistance as possible to ensure his/her years here are successful.
    Ms. Kathleen Corsentino
