Remote Learning Resource Guide for Students and Families

3439 Highway 516

Old Bridge, NJ 08857

To our new members of the Sandburg family, welcome to Carl Sandburg Middle School.  To our returning families, welcome back! We are planning for our students to assure a great school year full of multiple opportunities to academically grow and socially flourish.  This guide is meant to act as a road map in the event you need additional help or support during virtual learning.

Technology Support:

Every student will be provided a device in order to participate in and complete virtual/hybrid instruction.   Hotspots will be made available to students in need.  If your child is experiencing an issue with their HP Stream not working, in need of a password reset, or in need of a wireless hotspot, please send a detailed email to obtechs@obps.org with your concern.

The following Wakelet is a comprehensive Student and Parent guide that was created to provide information on using Microsoft Teams, the Envisions mathematics program, IXL, Newsela, Brainpop, etc. https://wakelet.com/wake/P4DnnDk6VNxeoFwZoZWvQ

Student Attendance:

Student attendance will be taken during EVERY class. Our student attendance policy remains the same, regardless if the school is fully virtual, hybrid, or back to a traditional calendar.  If your child is not able to attend class for the day, please contact our attendance clerk Mrs. Patel at 732-360-4400 to report your child absent.  If you have documentation that you would like to submit to our attendance clerk, please email Mrs. Patel, npatel@obps.org.

Contacting Teachers:

Students will be interacting with their teachers daily through interactive lessons. Teachers are also available to students and parents via email. Please note that teachers are actively teaching during regular school hours. Responses to emails will be addressed within 24 hours. If your child has an urgent question or concern, he/she may post a message to the teacher through the Microsoft Teams page for that class. Guidance counselors are available throughout the day to respond to your concerns as well.

Teacher email addresses can be found in the staff directory here:
