ABOUT MRS. WASHBURN

My name is Jennifer Washburn and I am thrilled to be working with your child. After my undergraduate education at Rowan University, I began my career as a 4th-grade teacher in Monmouth County. From 2003 until January 2014, I was a 5th-grade teacher at Memorial Elementary. Since then, I have had the privilege of working with Mr. Lawrence and our awesome Challenge Students.

In that time I went on to earn a Master's Degree in Teaching with a concentration on Curriculum Design and Instruction from Marygrove University. In 2010, I was honored with the Governor's Teacher of the Year Award.

I am a lifelong learner; I became a teacher because I love school. It is my goal to instill the same thirst for knowledge in my students and my own children as well. I have continued to further my education by taking post-graduate courses on a myriad of topics ranging from differentiated instruction to specific subject areas. I hold my Specialized Certification in Gifted and Talented Education.

My current assignment enables me to teach the Challenge students a variety of topics across the curriculum. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas! jwashburn@obps.org
