SHEPARD SHARKS

Welcome to Alan B. Shepard, Jr. Elementary School!

Alan B. Shepard, Jr. Elementary School is one of 11 elementary schools in the Old Bridge Township Public School District. Our dedicated staff includes over 30 skilled professionals. The philosophy of Shepard School is derived from the “Mission Statement” of the Old Bridge Township Public Schools. Our focus is pupil-centered and our programs and activities are designed to address the academic, social and emotional needs of all students.

In the Spring of 2021 Shepard School was awarded the title of National School of Character for the third consecutive time. We encourage our students to demonstrate the six pillars of character (Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Fairness, and Caring) everywhere they go. In addition to promoting an inspirational atmosphere where positive self-esteem is promoted, the staff consistently reinforces behavioral and academic expectations using common vocabulary, modeling, and accountability.

In the 2021, Shepard School was recognized by the Special Olympics Organization as a National Unified Champion School for its work at creating inclusive activities and an inclusive environment for all students.

Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, we look forward to providing our students and their families with opportunities to learn through multiple methods.  Aspects of service learning will also be a focus during instruction. Our students and their parents are encouraged to contribute their input by filling out school surveys, participating in school safety committees, parent advisory councils, the PTA, and participate in our school and community family events.

We look forward to continuing a positive partnership with parents and the Old Bridge community. Together we can meet the needs of all of students and provide an exceptional foundation for educational success.

Sincerely,

Joseph Marinzoli
