Planetarium

The Jonas Salk Middle School is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art, digital SciDome projection system operating inside a 35-foot dome projection ceiling with a powerful surround-sound audio system right inside our school.

No field trip is necessary for our students to visit a planetarium. Our planetarium curator is an experienced and state-licensed science teacher who works with all of our middle school students to enrich their Science curriculum with regular visits based on the topics the students are learning in their regular Science classes. Other subject area teachers are also bringing their classes to see math, art, music, history and other related programs.

During the school year, six Old Bridge elementary schools (K-5) send students during the school day to visit the Salk Planetarium to experience learning that can only be seen and heard in this unique setting.

The two Old Bridge planetaria facilities are currently not hosting outside groups. Interested parties should e-mail the name of their organization, contact person, phone number, and e-mail to Jeff Caulfield, Supervisor of Science, Old Bridge Township Public Schools, jcaulfield@obps.org. Inquiries will be kept on file and will be given priority consideration once the Planetarium Educational Outreach Program is up and running. We thank you in advance as the district makes the necessary preparations to provide the highest quality programming for our valued community partners and educational colleagues.
