CALCULUS HONORS (9427) Grade 11-12 5 Credits (Honors)

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum grade of C- in Pre-Calculus Honors or minimum grade of B- in Pre-Calculus

This course is part of the Middlesex Scholars Program with Middlesex County College. It covers functions, limits, continuity, and the differential and integral calculus of algebraic, trigonometric, and other transcendental functions. Topics will include applications such as related rates, maximum-minimum problems, areas, and volumes. Students will use graphing calculators as an integral part of the instruction. This course is part of the Middlesex College Dual Enrollment Program, which can potentially award students college credits upon completion of the course.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT CALCULUS AB (9430) Grade 11-12 5 Credits (AP)

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum grade of B- in Pre-Calculus Honors or minimum grade of A- in Pre-Calculus

  • Students enrolled in AP Calculus AB cannot enroll in AP Calculus BC

This course is part of the Middlesex Scholars Program with Middlesex County College. It is an advanced mathematics course developed for the college-bound student who would like to take a calculus course and try to get college credit. Limits, differentiations, appreciations, integration, transcendental functions, and indeterminate forms will be covered. The derive computer software and/ or graphing calculator will be used in the class. Students will be prepared to take the AP Calculus AB exam.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT CALCULUS BC (9431) Grade 11-12 5 Credits (AP)

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum grade of B in Pre-Calculus Honors or minimum grade of A in Pre-Calculus

  • Students enrolled in AP Calculus BC cannot enroll in AP Calculus AB

This course is part of the Middlesex Scholars Program with Middlesex County College. It is an advanced mathematics course designed for those students who have excelled in mathematics and who want to major in a mathematical field in college. It includes all of the AP Calculus AB curriculum plus slope fields, convergence, divergence, infinite series, other coordinate systems, simple differential equations, and quadratic surfaces. Technology will also be used in the class. Students will be prepared to take the AP Calculus BC exam.
