Music is vital to the overall education of students in the Old Bridge Public Schools. Old Bridge has placed equal emphasis on academics, the arts, and athletics for the overall education of students. Music classes provide students with a wide variety of skills that will greatly enhance the education of every child. Not only does music allow students to gain a high level of self-esteem, self- confidence, and worth; it also allows students to analyze, interpret, and express creativity in a unique way. The arts enable personal, intellectual, social, economic, and human growth by fostering creativity and providing opportunities for expression beyond the limits of language. The benefits of music education have proven to help students' brain functioning and higher level thinking. In addition to music theory and practice, students learn self-discipline, group cooperation, poise, enhanced physical coordination, high self-esteem, and the importance of teamwork- skills in great demand at almost every aspect of life. Like all the arts, music has a profound effect on the academic success of students as well.
