KIDS AT COLLEGE

As part of a comprehensive elementary school counseling program, the Kids at College venture is designed to promote a college focused education for all students in Old Bridge. Kids at College is a collaborative effort between the Old Bridge Township Public School System and local colleges and universities. Students in the 4th grade are introduced to the concept of higher education through various classroom lessons and activities. A culminating event allows students to visit an institution of higher learning and experience diverse aspects of college life.

The program embraces social, cultural and varied learning styles and creates a district-wide college bound culture. The Kids at College program allows children to explore the possibilities of higher education and equips parents with tools to take a proactive approach to the planning of their children's educational futures.

Early awareness of the importance of higher education is key to preparing students for personal and professional choices in the 21st century. Students who think about college at an early age are opening doors of opportunity for their future. Ultimately the program goals are to encourage students to find their strengths and pursue higher levels of learning, instill confidence in all students as capable learners, and connect classroom learning to real-life outcomes.
