NHS TUTORING SERVICES

Old Bridge High School National Honor Society students are available to Old Bridge School District students, who are experiencing difficulties with their schoolwork. These students are available, for one on one private tutoring sessions, to assist in helping students with their classwork or homework. When possible, if desired, group tutoring sessions may also be set up.

Please be aware the following policies are in effect:

1.   All in person tutoring is to take place at the Old Bridge Library, in person should only be pursued if both parties are comfortable with in person. Tutoring is also available via Zoom/Microsoft Meet

2. Tutors are to be compensated at a rate of $20 per hour for one-on-one tutoring or $15 per hour for each student for group tutoring, which is to be paid at the end of each session. Even if the session doesn't last an hour the student is to be paid the full rate as they have set aside a full hour for you.  Electronic payment or cash are preferred, arrangements should be made directly with students.

3. While we will make every effort to meet any special requests in matching tutors to students, sometimes this will not be possible, and the best match we can make will be initiated. If the tutor/student match is not working for either party, a new tutor may be requested.

4. It usually takes 2-5 days to process the paperwork and assign a tutor.

Please keep in mind:

-Our student tutors are remarkable young people who are also students themselves with their own time constraints due to homework, studying and extra-curricular activities. Tutoring should be arranged at a time that is convenient to BOTH the tutor and the student.
-Student tutors are by no means teachers and should not be expected to plan out lessons. Please have a your child bring work with them to the tutoring sessions.  (Some suggestions: homework assignments, tests or assignments that did not receive a desired grade, ask your child's teacher for potential resources or workbooks are available for purchase both in bookstores and online.)
