CHARACTER WORD OF THE WEEK

Each week I will provide every teacher in Madison Park with a new vocabulary word associated with developing good character. Along with the word's definition are challenge questions on which students are asked to self-reflect and sometimes act upon.

The word of the week this week is...

Humility

Humility is the willingness to recognize the accomplishments of others even if I don’t get noticed. Knowing that I don’t have to brag about myself allows me to care about others and focus on encouraging them to be their best.

Character Challenge:If you think you know it all or think you are the best, you won't be open-minded enough to seek out new knowledge or to continue to work hard. Don’t get down on yourself, but do understand your limitationsNo matter how talented you are, there is almost always somebody who can do something better than you. Look to those who are better and consider the potential you have for improvement.
